Ausable Chasm and Port Kent where a ferry can take you to Burlington (Vermont
State) and Lake Placid. Plattsburgh (New York State) is well known for shopping
and historic sites as the Essex's village is only 20 minutes away from the vacation
home. Also
you can find excellent skiing and mountain biking or visit High Falls Gorge and
other waterfalls within 45 minutes away from the property. Montreal is less than
1 hour and 30 minutes away, which is ideal for a day or evening trip of site seeing
and shopping. Locally,
there are numerous hiking and cross country skiing areas, rock climbing on Pokamoonshine
(great easy hike with excellent views of Lake Champlain). Swimming and picnicking
at Ausable Point State Park. At Point au Roche State Park you can also practice
some sports as swimming, hiking, excellent white and flat water paddling and superb
trout fishing on the famous Ausable River.

doesn't have to leave the property to enjoy a network of hiking
and cross country ski trails throughout the 80 acres of hills,
fields and forested land. Stone walls lace the wooded areas reminding
us of the legacy left by the Quaker farmers.
The property is a wildlife sanctuary, posted for no hunting and
abounds with wildlife, including turkey, deer, partridge, fox,
rabbit, beaver and a variety of birds and wildfowl in the wetlands
on the lower end of the property. There are mountain views in
the back of the house as well as flower, raspberry, grape, and
herb gardens on the premises.
